What the project needed
Before designing a hall you need to know the ground: levels, slopes, boundaries and what already exists around it. The brief covered two plots with the same aim, and the product was the usual one for an industrial engineering office: spot height plan and base map.
The MapSurvey record of this job is brief, so this page keeps to what it states and explains the method in general terms.
How this kind of job is approached
On open industrial plots, drone photogrammetry with ground control points is the usual method: the surface model gives the heights, the orthophoto serves as the background for drawing the map, and everything sits in the coordinate system the works will later be set out in.
What was delivered
The products stated in the record, for each of the two plots.
-
Spot height surveys
Ground levels for grading, foundations and drainage.
-
Topographic base maps
Plan of each plot and its surroundings for the design and permits.
-
3D model
Visual review of the plots and their surroundings.
If you have a similar project in Spain
Ask for heights and mapping in ETRS89 and your UTM zone, as layered DWG or DXF with the height datum stated, and the orthophoto as GeoTIFF or ECW. To quote, we need the plot perimeters as KMZ, the intended use and whether vegetation or buildings hide the ground.
