What the project needed
A mine needs a current topographic plan to plan faces, haul roads and stockpiles, and a volume measurement to know how much material has moved. Here both were resolved in one job over a fill area.
The MapSurvey record of this job is brief, so this page keeps to what it states and explains the method in general terms.
How this kind of job is approached
On bare mining surfaces without vegetation, drone photogrammetry is the usual method: one flight yields an orthophoto, a surface model and a dense point cloud, from which the mapping is drawn and volumes are computed by comparing surfaces. GNSS ground control fixes everything to the coordinate system and makes repeat measurements comparable.
What was delivered
Two products, plus the 3D model published in the viewer.
-
Topographic base mapping
Current plan of the site for planning and operational control.
-
Fill quantity survey
Material volume for certificates and tracking.
-
3D model
Visual review of the site from the office.
If you have a similar project in Spain
Ask for the mapping in ETRS89 and the UTM zone of the site, as DWG or DXF, the cloud as LAS or LAZ and a volume report that names the reference surface used. To quote, we need the site perimeter as KMZ, the areas to measure and whether an earlier survey exists.
